Guozigou Bridge, Xinjiang, China

It isn’t often built because of cost prohibitive factors, but many of our highways through major cities are viaducts if they’re not in trenches. In half a century, depending on how well the whole superstructure is maintained, it’ll be not only a bitch to replace, but also incredibly cost-prohibitive. That’s how we got into the situation we’re in today with escalating road infrastructure costs and China’s going to see that same situation in 50+ years, too.
