Not Brutalism. Sofdie and the Habitat67 are the original prefab modular system (stacked train cars anyone?). Brutalism is large singlar stereotomic masses. Usually of a single material and tends towards a hardness not present here. Habiatat67 is a whole made of autonomous parts lifted into place like a lego puzzle. All the same pieces fitted uniquely together creating different spaces from the same shape. Super efficient to build as they are all the same…the difference comes from the way they are stacked and connected. The structural integrity is created from the relation of similar pieces stacked together. Brutalism would deliver huge stereotomic masses weighted with energy…pretty much the opposite of Habitat. They do share the material of concrete. But brutalism would never be precast/prefab built off site and delivered by crane. It would be one large massive pour with thickness and weight, as if chiseled by the earth itself.
Edit to add:
Additionally, Brutalism reveals details as large moves whereas one can see the Habitat project as all about connection details and the intricacy of connectivity between similar parts.
