It’s a shame their tours had to be scaled back.
In the UK, you can tour most power stations including nuclear. It used to be that you could just turn up and go on the tour more or less but nowadays you have to book, show photo ID, turn over your phone, clear a security checkpoint and so on… but you can still go on the tours and I don’t think they’ve scaled back what they can show you ‘post 9/11’. The reactor halls and control rooms are shown from a viewing gallery behind what I’m sure is very thick glass but you can normally visit inside the turbine halls and things like that…
IIRC, they’re obligated by law to offer the tours, under requirements to educate and give back to the communities they operate in.
