Sacra di San Michele, ~1000 AD, the biggest benedictine abbey in Piedmont, Italy

I was born ~50 Km from there.

My town was under the economic influence of the Sacra, in Middle Age, a lot of connections to every local abbey, so it was a sure stop in every school trip in the area, to listen again and again to all the story \^^

You can access most of the building, included te top balcony, the huge library and the royal apartment (every major building in Piedmont has a royal apartment, you know, privileges).

They removed the skeletons from the Stairway of the Dead, though. Too gothic.
