I think many times when trying to dispute things it would be better to come up with an example.

I agree that, while just thinking about it, I’m sure some trees don’t need very deep roots, they can’t all be the same right? So while it is logical to assume that some trees don’t need it, you are replying to a comment that says that they do. Instead of saying, you’re wrong because that’s unlikely, it would be much stronger to say you know of some trees that don’t need as much and here is an example.

No point arguing just to argue. Better off teaching someone something new.
